I am seeking election as a Director of the BRC with a commitment to ensuring members’ voices are central to every decision. I believe the club sits first and foremost for its members and I’m dedicated to delivering value through enhanced facilities, engaging events, and transparent communication.

A diverse career spanning senior management with Qantas, QUT academic appointments, and small business ownership, reinforce my ability to achieve results, adapt across challenges, and represent stakeholders with integrity and professionalism.

My vision is to preserve the proud traditions of Brisbane racing while fostering innovation that attracts new generations to the sport. If elected, I will work to ensure every decision  strengthens the club’s long-term sustainability and success, guided by the principles of accountability, member focus and respect for the heritage of racing in our city.

DAVIES, Kate *

I am currently CEO of Netball Queensland, a member-based organisation. I steward the governance and growth of the sport throughout the State, lead the development of commercial consumer programs to drive diversification in revenue, manage the Queensland Firebirds, and on behalf of Stadiums Queensland operate the 5,000 seat Nissan Arena which hosts professional and community major and minor sporting events all year round. 

Previously holding executive leadership roles across all levels of Government, I am adept at navigating bureaucracies and influencing complex stakeholder environments.

Having transitioned into elite sports administration, I have successfully leveraged this government experience to secure multimillion dollar funding for sporting initiatives and infrastructure projects.

I’ve been an active member of Brisbane Racing Club since 2022 and regularly attend race meetings at Eagle Farm and Doomben. I have recently started my journey into horse ownership acquiring a share in a promising Annabel Neasham trained filly.

I joined the BRC board in April 2022 and I would be honoured to continue to deliver a prosperous future for our club utilising my attributes of youth, technology and financial management.

I am currently employed as the CFO and Company Secretary for Felix, a Brisbane-based technology company. I have experience in financial management, operations, mergers & acquisitions, governance, leadership and change management. I currently sit on the finance governance and risk, committee where my 15+ years’ experience leading finance functions for ASX listed and large companies is utilised across all facets of our club.

I am passionate about horse racing and the BRC. I have owned a share in several thoroughbreds with many based at the Eagle Farm training facility.

I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the members of this great club and I’m committed to improve the race day experience for all.

I am a seasoned executive leader with over two decades of global experience as a General Counsel & Company Secretary in legal and commercial operations, corporate governance, strategy and risk, property, insurance and general corporate matters across ASX publicly listed international enterprises.

I have steered organisations through operational and cultural transformation, utilising my expertise in corporate law, M&A, corporate governance, property transactions and stakeholder engagement.

I am currently a Board & Governance Principal with Directors Australia, an advisory firm to directors and board rooms with a national reach. I have held formal and informal roles in the racing industry, and I race horses in Queensland and interstate.

I joined the board in March 2025 and consider it an honour and privilege to serve, represent and advance the interests of all BRC members. I am a member of the Master Planning and Finance, Governance & Risk sub-committees.

RAPKINS, Michael

MIT, BBus(Acctg), BAppSc(Maths). Held various positions including Manager of Commercial and Contracts.

I have been a member of QTC and BRC for more than 45 years commencing as a Junior Member. I first attended races at 16 and have seen the major changes to racing including Tote betting, corporate bookmaking, daily TV coverage and various online media. I have owned several horses, bred thoroughbreds, been a bookmaker’s clerk and held a strapper’s licence.

Recently retired, I have managed $100M+ (per year) transitions and transformations as well as consulted to ASX200 organisations on Business Process Outsourcing. This included financial and contract negotiations for multi-million dollars contracts.

I am regularly in the Derby and Bernborough bar areas on most Saturdays mingling with other members.

Special responsibilities:
Chaired various user groups for the negotiation of major software changes. Been part of the negotiation committee for over 5,000 staff regarding salaries and condition improvements.
